Sports Coaching
A free short course by Sportal Corporate — not a credit-bearing university award.
1h 55m of video8 videos13 written lessons
How coaching actually works — building a philosophy, session design, the constraints-led approach, feedback, and long-term athlete development.
The course starts with what a coaching philosophy is and asks you to build your own, then covers reflective practice. It moves into skill acquisition and session design, the constraints-led approach as an alternative to drilling, and giving feedback that changes behaviour rather than merely being delivered. It closes with why development takes time, and growth, maturation and long-term athlete development.
It is written for coaches at any level, PE teachers, and parents coaching junior teams, as well as students on a coaching or sports science course. Eight video lessons are released one at a time, with written notes, key terms and a practical exercise. Pass the ten-question quiz at 80% and a verifiable certificate is issued instantly.
