Introduction to Physical Literacy
A free short course by Sportal Corporate — not a credit-bearing university award.
51m of video11 videos17 written lessons
What physical literacy is — motivation, confidence, competence and understanding — and how to build it from early childhood to old age.
The course defines physical literacy and its four elements, shows what it looks like in practice, and covers fundamental movement skills and how to teach them in primary PE, including a full worked lesson. It goes on to developing physically literate children, what quality physical education means, bringing it to life across a school, assessing all four elements honestly rather than testing only competence, and physical literacy across a whole life.
It is written for PE teachers and primary generalists, early years and community coaches, parents, and students on a physical education or sport development course. Eleven short video lessons are released one at a time, with written notes and key terms. Pass the ten-question quiz at 80% for a verifiable certificate.
