The course builds from anatomy and physiology through the principles of training — overload, progression and specificity — into energy systems and metabolism, and an introduction to biomechanics. It then turns practical: needs analysis and programme design, developing power, speed and agility, monitoring training load in elite sport, and the roles sleep, recovery and nutrition play in adaptation.

It suits coaches who want the reasoning behind the sessions they run, PE teachers, fitness professionals, and students beginning a sports science, physical education or physiotherapy qualification. Thirteen video lessons are released one at a time, with written notes and key terms for each. Pass the ten-question quiz at 80% and a verifiable certificate is issued straight away.
