Safeguarding in Sport
A free short course by Sportal Corporate — not a credit-bearing university award.
2h 52m of video8 videos13 written lessons
How sport keeps participants safe — safeguarding principles, recognising abuse and grooming, reporting concerns, safer recruitment and online safety.
The course sets out what safeguarding in sport means and shows it from a parent's side, then covers recognising abuse and how to respond to a concern without making it worse. It looks at policies that actually prevent harm rather than merely exist, what good practice looks like day to day, the honest state of play across the sector, and online abuse and athlete safety.
It is written for coaches, club officials, welfare officers, volunteers and parents, and is the kind of grounding most clubs now expect before anyone works with children. Eight video lessons are released one at a time, with written notes and key terms. A ten-question quiz at 80% earns a certificate with a verifiable ID.
