Tableau for Sport
A free short course by Sportal Corporate — not a credit-bearing university award.
6h 29m of video32 videos37 written lessons
Build the dashboards sports analysts get paid for — pitch maps, pass networks, zones, radars, season and scouting dashboards. Free, in Tableau Public.
The course is a full build, not a tour. It starts with collecting XY data and mapping it onto a pitch, then tables, percentages, KPI colouring, joining and unioning files, and scraping football data. It moves through average player positions, pass maps and matrices, custom pitch zones, event timelines, expected goals running totals, barbell charts, beeswarm plots, small multiples, radar charts and parameter-controlled colour, then team sheets and a four-part season dashboard, ending with a capstone scouting dashboard.
Tableau Public is free, so the whole course costs nothing to follow along with. Thirty-two video lessons are released one at a time, with written notes for each. A ten-question quiz at 80% earns a verifiable certificate.
